On the other hand, a housing 12 and a bearing 14 are also provided on the machine body side, and the ball screw 18 is provided between the bearings 14, 17. The screw 18 is rotated by a driving machanism to move a feed unit, and a work is machined. In this case, the thrust applied to the screw 18 from a cutting resistance or the like is absorbed by the housing 12 through the bearing 14, while the whirling of the screw 18 is absorbed by the elastic member 16, so that bed effects on the feed device itself can be avoided.
