Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain crack-free specimens by securing its exact shearing area by a method in which concrete is placed over a wide range around a specimen and then a cutter is moved on a guide rail fixed to cut off the specimen.

And, the leg 4 of the guide rail 3 of a concrete cutter is fixed to the concrete-placed part, the guide rail 3 is held horizontally, and the cutter having a round blade 6 matching the cutting depth is moved to cut off the specimen. Finally, the adjoining rock bed is excavated to obtain the specimen having a given shearing area. By this method, the time and cost required for preparing the specimen can be reduced.
