Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a highly reliable printer which prevents issuing of a ticket having a poor printing, by a method wherein, in a heat-sensitive transfer system printing issuing unit, printing takes place after detecting that a heat-sensitive printing head is reliably set in an overlapping state. CONSTITUTION:A heat-sensitive transfer mechanism is provided with a head block 40 holding a heat-sensitive printing head which is movably positioned between an overlapping state and a releasing state. The head block 40 is set to one end of a support shaft 48 pivotably secured to a device body 20. A lift plate 51 is pivotably attached to the support shaft 48, and a set shaft 53 pierces the lift plate 51. A spring 55 works such that the set shaft 53 is inserted through a set aperture 57 formed in the device body 20. A detecting means 58 is attached to the back of the set aperture 57, and a ticket is printed and issued by means of a detection signal and a ticket issue instruction signal to be outputted from a control part.
