Abstract
PURPOSE: To facilitate high filming of molten metal and to cool the metal at high speeds in a high speed quick cooling method by which the molten metal is stuck or touched to substrates by heating the substrates beforehand.
CONSTITUTION: Molten metal is stuck or touched as drops or flow to base plate of good heat conductivity which are heated beforehand to ≥100°C. Here it is most preferable to heat the base plate at such temps. at which the difference in temps. between the base plate and the molten metal is min. required to the extent of avoiding the local solidification and increase in the viscosity of the molten metal at the contact surfaces. However, they are heated to ≥100°C in view of easy removability of water. It is recommended to determine optimum temps. in accordance with the kinds of the molten metal, sticking or touching means, etc. as they vary with these. If the base plate are heated beforehand in this way, the local solidification and the increase in the viscosity of the molten metal at the contact surfaces of the molten metal and the base plate are averted, the formation of thin films is made easy, the molten metal spreads sufficiently thinly before solidification on the base plate and the entire part is quickly cooled effectively.
