PURPOSE:To discriminate if a vertical synchronizing frequency is 50Hz or 60Hz with no adjustment, by forming a saw toorh voltage from a vertical synchronizing signal synchronizingly separated from a received TV signal and forming the waveform of the saw tooth wave to an exponential function or a function of higher order. CONSTITUTION:A composite synchronizing signal A of a received TV signal is integrated at an integration circuit 1, a vertical synchronizing signal part B is picked up and a transistor (TR)2 is turnwd on at a constnt level or more. Resistors (R)10 and 11 and the TR12 constitute a reference current source, and when the TR2 is turned off, a capacitor (C)4 is charged with Rs 17 and 18 and a TR19. When a voltage across the C4 is increased, a TR16 connected with Rs 13-15 is conductive, a base voltage of a TR19 is lowered and a current in the C4 is increased. Thus, a voltage being an exponential function is generated across the C4 and if a vertical synchronizing freqency is 50Hz or 60Hz can be discriminated with TRs 5 and 6. Further, the center value of the amplitude difference is applied to the base of the TR6 with TRs 24 and 25 and a discriminated output 9 can be obtained with no adjustment.
