Abstract

PURPOSE:To avoid interference of a pressure left after ejection with the shuttling motion of a pump measuring device by setting a timing at which a four-way valve of a high pressure fuel ejection pump is started to open at the outpt port thereof and another timing at which the valve is started to open at the suction port thereof so as to give a proper relation therebetween. CONSTITUTION:A lag of a timing at which a four-way valve is matched with an output port 11 or 11' thereof to start opening of the valve from a timing at which a suction port 12 is matched with a passage 19 formed in a sleeve 5 which is the member located around a shaft 4 to start opening of the valve, should be within + or -5% (in term of a valve opening angle for a certain reference or that of the outlet 11 or 11' of the four-way valve for that of a suction port 12). To obtain such lag, an angle of the grooves 20 in the four-way valve is properly set. When the suction port 12 is slifted to open the valve after a completion of ejection, the output port 11, or 11' of the four-way valve is completely opened so that a residual pressure after ejection has no influence on a measuring chamber 10.
