PURPOSE:To reduce the cost of pipes for air sealing during casting of molten steel and to reduce casting costs by constituting the same of refractories consisting essentially of alumina and silica. CONSTITUTION:Pipes for air sealing of molten steel flow by flowing molten steel in pipe bodies 1 are produced by using refractroy raw materials such as general bauxite, synthetic mullite or the like consisting essentially of alumina and silica. If necessary, steel fibers 3 are added into the refractory compsn. or steel plates 4 are clad on the outside or inside surface or both surfaces thereof. In this way, the pipes for air sealing are made extremely inexpensive so that the casting costs can be reduced despite one time of throw-away use.
