Abstract

PURPOSE: To accumulate and collect the titled antibiotics having the antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, by cultivating a microorganism belonging to the genus Streptomyces.
CONSTITUTION: A microorganism, e.g. Streptomyces rishiriensis subspecies SP- 265, is cultivated in a usual culture medium for cultivating actinomyces, e.g. containing glucose, starch, meat extract, corn steep liquor, phosphate or carbonate. Microbial cells are removed from the culture by the filtration, etc. and the aimed novel antibiotic substance AT-265 or AT-265-B or both are obtained from the filtrate by the adsorption and desorption method with an ion exchange resin, silica gel chromatography, etc.
