Abstract
PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for the switching of circuit operation, and to minimize the tolerance of a buffer memory by monitoring the amount of data stored in the buffer memory, and then controlling the speed of a recording medium directly on the basis of the extent of variation in the amount. CONSTITUTION:The difference signal (c) regarding a write-in address signal (a) and a read-out address signal (b) is obtained by a difference signal circuit 19. The difference signal (c) is converted into an analog signal by a digital-to-analog converter 20. The reference voltage V1 of a reference voltage source 21 for holding the interval from write-in to read-out at a prescribed value is applied to the 1st comparator 21, and the analog signal from the converter 20 is also applied to the 1st comparator 21 to obtain a difference signal. This difference signal is applied to the 2nd comparator 23, which compares the speed of a recording medium 1 with a reference voltage V2 from a prescribed reference voltage source 22. On the basis of its comparison signal, a motor 16 for a capstan is controlled.
