Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an information recording medium which is capable of not only accessing easily but also recording the information continuously, and has a large capacity, by providing a pre-format track of a prescribed track number for accessing, on a part of an information recording layer. CONSTITUTION:The surface of an optical disk 1, etc. is constituted, for instance, of an index recordig area and a picture information recording area, an index formatting area 3 is provided on a part of the index recording area, and a picture information formatting area 4 is provided on a part of the picture information recording area. According to such a constitution, a light beam of an optical head can be made to correspond to a corresponding track without using a device having high accuracy. Also, since this recording medium is capable of recording the information continuously, it is possible to generate no dead part in the recording capacity and to make it have a large capacity.
