Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the abrasion resistance of the surface of a roll for fixing and to increase the number of copying sheets considerably by including potassium titanate fibers into the silicone rubber of said roll. CONSTITUTION:Mechanical factors are the largest factors for deterioration of the surface of a silicone rubber roll for fixing. These result in the abrasion and deterioration of the rubber on account of the flaws and abrasion of the roll surface, the sticking of toners on the roll and consequent offsetting and wrapping of paper. To avoid these, the raw material prepd. by including 5-20pts.wt. potassium titanate fibers in 100pts.wt. silicone rubber is used as a heat-resistant release material 2 for a roll 4 for fixing. The potassium titanate fibers are dispersed into the silicone rubber by this, whereby the abrasion resistance is markedly improved, and the number of copying sheets is increased considerably.
