Abstract
PURPOSE:To secure the ignition of the titled device by a method wherein a mixing pipe is moved in response to the operation of an ignition heater and a combustion gas is concentrically supplied only to a part of a catalyst contacting with the ignition heater at the time of ignition only. CONSTITUTION:When the button 11 of an ignition switch 4 is operated to move to an ignition position, the distance between the mixing pipe 5 and the catalyst 2 is shortened. Simultaneously with the above operation, an electric current flows through the ignition heater 3 so that a part 2' of the catalyst 2 which is in close contact with the ignition heater 3 is heated. Further, a gas mixture of a fuel gas and air is injected from an injectiin port 6 and supplied to the catalyst 2 while it spreads within the range shown by the dotted lines A and A'. As a consequence, the gas mixture is supplied concentrically to the part 2' of the catalyst 2 contacting with the ignition heater 3 and as the gas mixture (as the fuel) is supplied in large quantities not widely but partially to that part 2' of the catalyst 2, the temperature of the part 2' is elevated quickly to thereby facilitate and secure the ignition of the combustion device.
