Abstract
PURPOSE: To fractionally separate harmful ions from water with high efficiency, by letting a plurality of dilute ion-contng. water solutions, to which precipitants are added, flow through a column continuously having a plurality of packed layers containing the same compounds as the insoluble precipitates of said ions.
CONSTITUTION: Crude liquid 1 containing tens mg/l or so of ions to be separated is introduced into a packed layer C. The packed layer C contains a filler effective in separation of said ions, i.e. catalytic particles containing compounds similar to or the same compounds as insoluble precipitates generated by the reaction of said ions with a precipitate-forming agent. The particle size of the filler is selected in a manner such that the packed layer C is formed below another packed layer B at any times. When the ion-contng. water is let flow through the packed layer, a pH-adjusting agent, the precipitate-forming agent 3, etc. are directly added to the main body of the packed layer C or the crude liquid 1, so that catalytic reaction is done in the packed layer C. As the packed layer C may be formed a fluidized one.
