Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the production efficiency of a commutator by forming a columnar insulating core material having a section of not round, plating a conductive member on the outer periphery of the material and then cutting the outer peripheral surface so that the section becomes regular round, thereby simplifying the working steps. CONSTITUTION:A core material 11 which is made of a columnar insulator having a section of not circle is formed, and a sheathing material 12 made of a conductive material is plated on the outer peripheral surface of the material 11. The outer peripheral surface of the material 11 is cut so that the section becomes a regular circle, and a commutator member 13 which is alternately exposed at the material 11 and the member 12 on the outer peripheral surface is produced. The material 13 is eventually cut axially in the prescribed light, thereby producing a commutator.
