Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect paper sizes surely by disposing one paper sensor in the convenance route for paper while disposing plural return sensors in the moving route for an optical system, and detecting the passage time of the paper by this sensor. CONSTITUTION:Return sensors SWA, SWB are disposed respectively in the return positions corresponding to paper sizes, and a paper size sensor SWS is disposed in an arbitrary position in a conveyance route for paper. According to the varying sizes of transfer paper 1 passing first through the sensor SWS, a relay RA1 goes off if the size is long and on if the size is short, thereby storing the state thereof. In accordance with the results of said storage, either the SWA or the SWB is selected by the closing of the contact (a) or (b) of the relay RA1, by which the return position is determined and the paper size is detected surely.
