Abstract

Then, the flash emission times of a fixing lamp 21 such as xenon lamp or the like of the fixing device are changed in accordance with the nature of the recording paper by the controller 60, whereby the light irrdiating area, the overlap quantity of the irradiating areas, etc. in one flash emission of the lamp 21 are controlled. The recording paper is fixed stably by flash light irradiation independent to its nature.
