Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the size and the weight of an oscillating swash plate type compressor, to reduce noises and vibration produced by the same, to enhance reliability of its operation, and to lower the manufacturing costs, by arranging pistons to oppose each other, and omitting guides for the pistons by designing the cylinders to function as guides. CONSTITUTION:Rotational motion of a Z-shaped crank shaft 1 is converted into lateral motion of piston rods 16a, 16b and 16c, 16d, and resultantly, pistons 15a, 15b and 15c, 15d arranged symmetrically to each other are reciprocated laterally in respective cylinders 20a, 20b and 20c, 20d, thus causing introduction of gas into the cylinders, compression of the gas in the cylinders and discharging of gas from the cylinders, successively. Here, the inner walls of respective cylinders serve as guides for the pistons. By thus arranging the cylinders and pistons symmetrically and to oppose each other, it is enabled to improve balance of the entire mechanism and to reduce noises and vibration produced thereby. Further, by employing such an arrangement capable of omitting guides for arms of an oscillator 14, it is enabled to operate the compressor at a high speed and hence to reduce the size and weight of the same.
