Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a stable signal free of modulation due to the rotation of a quad by inducing an AC electric signal at each core by using a revolving magnetic field when cores are stranded into a quad, and detecting it by electrostatic coupling at each core before the quad stranding. CONSTITUTION:A revolving magnetic field generation part 15 consists of induction coils 15A-15D arranged radially around a quad cable 14 at pi/2 angle intervals, and pi/2 phase shifting circuit 17 for pi/2 phase shifting, and this generation part 15 produces a revolving magnetic field by using a two-phase alternating current. The revolving speed of this revolving magnetic field is set much higher than the revolving speed of a quad, and this revolving magnetic field induces AC electric signals at cores 2A-2D. Therefore, detected signals are never modulated by the rotation of the quad and an electrostatic detection part 3 and a differential detector 7 detects a fault of the array of the cores in the quad of the quad cable.
