CONSTITUTION:A standard optical fiber 6A is connected to a light source 2 and a standard optical fiber 6B is connected to a photodetector 4 and then, an optical fiber to be measured 7 is connected between both optical fibers 6A and 6B. Both fibers 6A, 6B are optical fibers of the same specification obtained by dividing a single optical fiber into sections, and the fibers having the standard value at the time of constituting a desired transmission passage are used. A prescribed optical signal is given from the light source 2 of an imitative transmission system to the photodetector 4 of an imitative reception system and a photodetecting level at the time of the light transmission is detected by a level detector 5. The photodetecting level is the value including not only losses of each optical fiber 6A, 6B and 7 but also connection losses.
