Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate the discharging of an empty cassette and the loading by discharging the empty cassette through a discharge section provided in the opposite direction to the cassette insertion direction in response to a recording paper zero signal. CONSTITUTION:In a cassette replacing unit 2, a discharge section 21 is provided in the opposite direction to the cassette insertion direction into a cassette insertion port 11, and a cassette 3c is loaded for paper feeding through the cassette insertion port 11 by rotating a cassette inserting/discharging motor M in the positive direction. When a signal that no recording paper is remaining in the cassette 3c is issued to the CPU by a paper detector provided in a paper feed section of the copying machine body 1, a command for reversing is issued by the CPU to the cassette inserting/discharging motor M so as to discharge the cassette 3c through the discharge section 21 to the outside of the unit. Then, the recording paper is supplied into the cassette 3c, and when a cassette loading button is pressed, the cassette inserting/discharging motor M is rotated in the positive direction and the cassette 3c is loaded again into the cassette insertion port 11.
