Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable measurement of even a cation in organism fluid containing a protein in a high concentration with rapid responsiveness, by a method wherein a tetraphenylborate having a lipophilic anion or its halogen derivative is added to a polymer membrane in a specified ratio to a netural ligand contained in said membrane. CONSTITUTION:To a cation-responsive membrane, which is dispersed in polyvinyl chloride containing a neutral carrier type ligand which is electrically neutral (e.g., 1,2-phenylenedioxyd-N-benzylacetanilide) and a plasticizer, 0.01-1.2 equivalent, based on said ligand, of sodium tetraphenylborate having a lipophilic anion or its halogen derivative[e.g., sodium tetrakis (p-halophenyl)borate]are added. This permits the measurement of a cation in an organism fluid containing large amounts of protein or lipid such as serum at a high-speed responsiveness without changes in sensitivity and selectivity.
