Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a superior corrosion preventing property to silver plated stainless steel by immersing the steel in an org. solvent contg. higher aliphatic amine and/or mercaptan at a specified concn. CONSTITUTION:Stainless steel plated with silver or a silver alloy allover or partially is immersed in an org. solvent contg. 0.01-5wt% higher aliphatic amine and/or mercaptan. As the amine 8-24 C dodecylamine, octadecylamine, eicosylamine, nonylamine or the like is used. As the mercaptan 8-24 C dodecylmercaptan, octadecylmercaptan, eicosylmercaptan, nonylmercaptan or the like is used. The org. solvent is ethanol, acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, ether or the like.
