CONSTITUTION:While rotating an Al cylinder about a central axis, an intermediate layer of Ni or Au having a smaller difference in work function between it and Se than Al has between it and Se is vacuum-deposited on the cylinder in 1Angstrom -10mum thickness. A sensitive Se layer is then vacuum-deposited in 70mum thickness. Se has 4.72eV work function. On the other hand, Al, Ni and Au have 3.74eV, 4.84eV and 4.58eV, respectively.
