Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound which is a rew material, etc. for insecticides, etc. efficiently, by treating (+)-cis- or a mixed (+)-cis with (+)-trans chrysanthemum-monocarboxylic acid with a catalytic system containing a palladium halide and a nitrile compound.
CONSTITUTION: (+)-cis Chrysanthemum-monocarboxylic acid or a mixed (+)- cis with (+)-trans chrysanthemum-monocarboxylic acid is treated with a catalytic system containing a palladium halide and a nitrile compound in the temperature range of -30W+110°C, preferably -10W+100°C, to convert the configuration of the carbon atom at the 3-position (epimerization of the carbon atom at the 3-position) and give the aimed (+)-trans chrysanthemum-monocarboxylic acid.
EFFECT: Mild reaction conditions.
USE: Acidic components in rapid acting insecticidal esters with low toxicity.
