Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the activity and durability of catalyst, and to improve the selectivity in the disproportionation of a fluorine-containing halogenated hydrocarbon, by using a catalyst composed of specific ratios of chromium oxide, magnesium oxide and aluminum oxide.
CONSTITUTION: A fluorine-containing halogenated hydrocarbon different from the starting substance is obtained by the halogen-exchange disproportionation reaction of another fluorine-containing halogenated hydrocarbon in the presence of a Cr2O3/MgO/Al2O3 catalyst containing 50W90%, preferably 60W80% Al2O3 (as the weight of the oxide) and 5W30%, preferably about 7W20% MgO (based on the weight of Cr2O3), usually at ≥100°C. The ratios of Cr2O3/MgO/Al2O3 of the catalyst are preferably (10W30%)/(1W10%)/(60W90%).
