Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable simple, precise and earlier detection of a change in water quality, by a method wherein a detecter, which detects a change in water quality due to flowing-in of a poisonous substance or the like with collision occurring resulting from the furious swimming of an index living e.g. a carp or the like, is provided in a water tank. CONSTITUTION:Test water is fed from a sample water feed pump 3 into the water tank 2 through a control valve 7, and a flow meter 6, and simultaneously, an air pump 8 feeds air to the tank 2. Collision detecters 4 are mounted at the four wall surfaces of the tank 2. Index livings 11 e.g. carps or the like are raised in the water tank 2. Through the feed-in of water mixed with a poisonous substance such as cyanogen, the living things 11 start to swim furiously, and the collision of the living thing with the detecters 4 lights an indication light 12 and sounds an alarm. A computer 13 computes the number of collision times per unit time, and the number of collision times are recorded in a recorder 14 with the elapse of time. If, for example, water mixed with 1ppm cyanogen starts to flow in, the collision is detected 20min later, and it comes to the maximum number of collision times in about 40min. After 60min have elapsed, the fish is weakened to the free from collision. This eliminates the need for continuous supervision and analysis by an operator and permits the easy detection of a change in water quality.
