Abstract
PURPOSE:To maintain the active state of an electrode and substantially increase reliability for a long period of time by forming the film of a high molecular bonding substance with octacyano-metal complex on a carbon electrode in a fuel dissolving type fuel cell using methanol/air or hydrazine/air as a fuel. CONSTITUTION:Polyvinyl pyridine bonding film 3 with octacyanomolybdenum is formed on the surface of an air electrode acting as a cathode, and it acts as a catalyst to increase reactivity and a separator between an anolyte and air. By reacting a complex with a high molecular substance having a lyophilic hydrogen ion group, the resulting substance acts as a separator having a property which makes proton (H<+>) or hydroniumion (H3O<+>) permeable but does not make water molecule permeable between the anolyte and air. Therefore, the wettability of the air electrode can be prevented and the life of a battery is substantially increased.
