Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the omission of print dots, by providing an auxiliary electrode in the side of a recording pin electrode and applying the electric field across the recording pin and the electrode. CONSTITUTION:A recording pin electrode 1 and an auxiliary electrode 2 are molded 10mum apart with an insulating material 3. A recording medium consists of a supporting member 5 and a dielectric film 4. A negative print pulse Vp(150V) is applied to the recording pin electrode 1 to form an electrostatic latent image just under the electrode 1 by discharge. A DC positive voltage (+100V) is applied to the auxiliary electrode 2 by a power source 6 to make the potential difference between the auxiliary electrode 2 and the recording pin electrode 1 lower than the discharge start voltage obtained from Paschen curve. The recording medium is charged preliminarily with the surface potential of +450V. Since the electric field at the tip of the electrode 1 is intensified by the electric field in the lateral direction due to the auxiliary electrode 2, a large quantity of initial electrons required for the discharge start is supplied, and thus, the omission of print dots is prevented.
