Abstract
PURPOSE:To sense the water level in a reactor accurately even at the time of accident by providing a heat insulating material around the side surface of a reference head pipe which is located lower than a reference water level device of the water gage by 10cm and around all outer surface of lower piping 9, in a light water cooled type nuclear reactor. CONSTITUTION:The heat insulating material 12 such as asbestos and pyrite around the side surface of the reference head pipe 5 which is located lower than a reference water level device 3 of the water gage by 10cm (distance shown by A) and around all outer surface of the lower piping in the light water cooled nuclear reactor 1. At the time of accident, the temperature of the water at the reference water head and the temperature of the water in the lower piping are kept at 100 deg.C or less for about 1,000sec before the spray is started, and the water level in the reactor 1 can be accurately sensed.
