Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect a defect in a ridge part, by a method wherein an amount of light shielded by cutter is detected by a large number of pick-up elements, being aligned, through irradiation of a ridge part of an edge and a cutter with light. CONSTITUTION:A support jig 3 supports a blade 2, having a ridge line 2A, through extension of the ridge line to one side part. The support jig is secured to a placing table 5, and is moved on a base stand 1 in a direction S of a ridge line by means of a motor 4. Light from a light source 6 reaches image pick-up elements 7 through lenses 6A, 6B, and a prism 6C. The image pick-up element consists of a large number of the photosensing elements aligned in a direction R being perpendicular to the moving direction S. A part of light is shielded by the blade, and as a result, a part of the image pick-up elements 7 are irradiated with no light. Through movement of the placing table, an amount of light collected by the photosensing elements is detected with the gradual irradiation of the ridge line, and this permits the detection of a defect in the ridge line from a change in an amount of light shielded at the defect part.
