Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the odors produced during welding and to improve adhesiveness to paint by making a maleic oil having prescribed mol. wt.s water soluble at prescribed concns. with a water solubilizing agent and using this as an essential component. CONSTITUTION:A titled preventing agent consisting essentially of a maleic oil of 500-2,000mol. wts. which is made water soluble at 5-20wt% concn. with a water solubilizing agent. Said maleic oil is obtd. by causing Diels-Alder reaction of maleic anhydride with an unsaturated fatty acid of animal and vegetable oils or addition reaction to the adjacent carbon of double bonds. Such preventing agent produces less odors during coating and welding and has excellent adhesiveness to paint.
