Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce size in the direction of a diameter by inserting a lens barrel which has an objective lens into a cylindrical coil bobbin, and then driving the lens barrel by applying electromagnetic force to a magnet provided to the lens barrel. CONSTITUTION:A movable part 1 inserted into a cylindrical cover 2 made of a nonmagnetic material consists of an objective lens 4 fitted in a lens barrel 3, and the 1st and 2nd annular yokes 6 and 7 stuck to the top and reverse surfaces of an annular magnet 5. Currents are flowed through coils 8 and 9 in the opposite directions to move up and down the movable part 1. The movement is constrained by a coiled spring 11. Since a fixed part is provided with no magnetically permeable material, the annular yokes are never attracted locally to the fixed part.
