Abstract

PURPOSE: After cracked gasoline is heat treated in the light-fraction separator to separate and remove cyclopentadienes, the middle fraction with a lower diene value that is obtained from the heavy fraction separator is hydrogenated to increase the stability of hydrogenative treatment.
CONSTITUTION: Cracked gasoline 1 is fed to the light-fraction separator 2. The light-fraction separator is operated under such a pressure as the temperature of the column bottom is kept at a temperature at which cyclopentadiene dimer is throughly decomposed such as at a temperature over 150°C, usually under higher than 5kg/cm2 pressure. Thus, the cyclopentadiene dimer is decomposed in the column bottom and distilled off as the top fraction in the form of monomer, and the content of the dimer is greatly reduced in the bottom fraction 4 of the light-fraction separator. The bottom fraction is distilled in the heavy- fraction separator 5 and the resultant middle fraction 7 has further reduced cyclopentadiene content and diene value. Thus, the following hydrogenative treatment is stabilized.
