Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the dimensional error and its dispersion at the time of finish of precision grinding and consequently accomplish the grinding with high accuracy by a method wherein the time to obtain the desired finishing dimension is calculated and a workpiece finishing signal is sent after the elapse of said time calculated.
CONSTITUTION: An internal grinder 1 is equipped with a grinding wheel carriage 2, on which a grinding wheel spindle motor 3 to drive a grinding wheel spindle 3a is fitted, and a cross slide 4 arranged opposite to the grinding wheel spindle 3a. A location measuring instrument 7 for the grinding wheel carriage 2 is arranged at the carriage 2. A workpiece dimension detection signal from a sizing device 6 is timed by a signal from the location measuring instrument 7 and inputted to a sizing input circuit 8. A depth feed controlling circuit 11 results in controlling the cross slide 4 so as to be back to its original location with a specified dimension finishing signal from a variable timing circuit 16 or from a comparator circuit in the case that the desired dimension equals to the estimated dimension.
