Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect the foreign matter of railroads easily with image recognition by simple constitution by comparing the recognized image of the railroads right after the passage of a train and the recognized image of the time when the next train approaches. CONSTITUTION:The image signal of railroads taken by a television camera 1 right after the passage of a train through a railroad which is an object to be detected of foreign matter is stored as the comparing reference image signal showing the normal state of the railroad in the 1st memory 8 by the output signal of a passage sensor 5. When the next train approaches, the comparing reference image signal stored in the memory 8 is transferred to the 2nd memory 9 and the image signal taken by the camera 1 at this time is stored in the 1st memory 8. The storage signals of the memory 8 and the memory 9 are compared by a comparator 10 and if there is a difference between both signals, it is detected that foreign matter exists on the railroad and an alarm is emitted by an alarm device 11.
