Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce hydrogen of high purity with low voltage by using a porous electrode reinforced with a netlike reinforcing material for the anode or cathode to be brought into tight contact with an ion exchange membrane used for an electrolytic method for water. CONSTITUTION:In the stage of supplying water to an anode chamber partitioned by a cation exchange membrane and electrolyzing the same, the anode or cathode to be brought into tight contact with the exchange membrane is reinforced with a netlike reinforcing material to have gas and liquid permeability. The netlike reinforcing materials used are netlike bodies made of synthetic resins such as polytetrafluoroethylene, PP and the like or those made of metals such as Ni, stainless steel, platinum and the like. The netlike bodies are, for example, nets and expanded metals.
