Abstract
PURPOSE:To form weld zones of high joining strength with good workability in the stage of butt welding steel pipes to a tee shape by closing the end face of one pipe to an arc shape in section to form a spherical shape, butting this to the other pipe and welding these. CONSTITUTION:The circumferential wall 2 in the end part of one pipe A to be joined is reduced inward to an arc shape in sectoon and the opened end is closed to form a joining part 1 of roughly a spherical shape. This part 1 is butted to the circumferential surface of the other pipe B, and welding current is flowed to superheat the contact poing between both pipe so that flushes melt and scatter and the temp. over the entire part of the joining parts is thoroughly increased, after which the joining parts of both pipes A, B are pressurized to form a weld zone 3. The weld zone 3 of high joining strength is formed with good workability.
