PURPOSE:To improve a response property of tension control especially in case of rolling at a high speed, by amplifying a compared value of a tension detected value of a strip and a reference value in proportion to a rolling speed, and controlling its screw-down force, in a skin pass mill provided with an elongation percentage controller on its front and rear sides. CONSTITUTION:A strip 2 is fed to a skin pass mill 1 having bride rolls 3, 4 on its front and rear sides, respectively, in the direction as indicated with an arrow. Tension T of the strip 2 is detected by a detector 5, and is compared with a tension reference value T0 set at the outside by a comparator 6.
