Abstract
PURPOSE:To measure the visibility in an arbitrary range simple by integrating received light having back scattering and reference received light without back scattering and obtaining the difference. CONSTITUTION:A sequence generating circuit generates periodic signals (a)-(d). A light emitting diode 3 sends transmitting light from a transmitting lens 4 through an amplifier 2. The reflected light from the target due to the back scatter is received by a light detector 6 through a receiving lens 5. A switch 11 is conducted by a timing signal (b) which is delayed from the signal (a) by t1. Integrators 15 and 16 are alternately selected by the periodic signal (c) whose period is a half the light emitting period of the light emitting diode 3. The signal light and the reference light without back scatter are separately integrated. The signal (d) is taken out by a differential amplifier 17, and the difference between both outputs is taken out. Only the back scatter intensity data is taken out and displayed on a voltmeter 10. Therefore, the visibility at the arbitrary range is simply measured.
