Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a 1/4-inch cartridge magnetic tape device for information processing data interchange capable of preventing resorded information from being overlapped on a marker hole, by counting and detecting an index position on the basis of the detected result of a marker hole of a tape. CONSTITUTION:When the load point hoe LP of a 1/4-inch magnetic tape is detected, an FF17 is set to control a gate group 20, and in a counter 18, the initial value which correponds to the distance between the hole LP and an index is set. For the forward run of the tape, this initial value is counted down by tachometer pulses which corresponds to the rotation of a capstan to zero, and then an index detecting circuit 19 generates an index detection signal and sends it to a higher device. Consequently, the tape run is stopped through the higher divece before a data block comes to an early warning hole EW. For the backwared run of the tape, the tachometer pulses are counted up and the overlapping of the marker hold and recorded information is evaded to obtain a 1/4-inch cartridge magnetic tape device for interchange of information processing data free of the absence of rescorded information.
