Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the dynamic loss of a compressor and to raise the compressor efficiency, by shaping the inner surface of a cylinder such that the position of the major axis is displaced toward inlet ports, so that gas can be compressed promptly to a required compression ratio and then discharged also promptly. CONSTITUTION:As shown in the drawing, the inner surface of an elliptic cylinder 3 is shaped such that it is symmetrical in respect to the center 0 and the position of the major axis l is displaced toward inlet ports 1. Further, the angle of circumference of arcuate surfaces 3a functioning as bearings and having substantially the same radius of curvature as that of a rotor 7 is set at about 10 deg.. Since, by employing such an arrangement, gas can be compressed promptly to a required compression ratio and then discharged also promptly, and at the same time, the gas-discharge starting position proceeds toward the inlet port 1, the area of gas discharging passages can be increased and the dynamic loss of the gas flow through the discharge passages can be reduced, so that the compressor efficiency can be raised.
