Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an expanded sheet having no undulatory pattern and also excellent surface glossiness by a method in which a blowing agent-containing resin is extruded through an annular die, contacted with an annular cooling face whose temperature is lower than that of the resin to form a skin layer by cooling its surface, and then sheeted by pressing. CONSTITUTION:A synthetic resin (e.g., polystyrene, etc.) containing a blowing agent (e.g., butane, etc.) is extruded through an extruder 1 with a circular die 2 to make it a tubular form, and the outer surface of the sheet immediately after being extruded through the die is contacted with the cooling face of an annular body 3 whose temperature is 10-30 deg.C lower than that of the resin extruded in such a way as to suppress the formation of an undulatory pattern to be entailed. Then, air is blown onto the outer surface of the resin sheet from an air ring 4 for cooling to form a skin layer, and water vapor is blown into the tubular body 5 through a conduit 8. Then, the tubular body 5 is pressed by a pinch roll 7 to bond two sheets together in order to obtain one sheet.
