Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure the optimum supply of toner regardless of the type of the original, the number of continuously copied sheets, etc., by multiplying the difference value between the standard concentration and the detected concentration by its corresponding coefficient, then supplying the toner according to the value obtained from the above multiplication. CONSTITUTION:The signal corresponding to a standard concentration plate or the concentration of the developer detected at a toner concentration detecting part 9 is amplified by an amplifier 10 containing an arithmetic amplifier 10a and fed to an A/D converter 11 after receiving a level adjustment at a volume VR1. This signal is sampled with the prescribed timing and by the sampling signal emerging on a signal line C. The sampled signal is fetched into a CPU13 after an A/D conversion and receives an arithmetic process based on a program within an ROM15. Thus the supply time of the toner is decided. The amount of supply RT is decided as RT=KXDELTAC (DELTAC: difference of concentration), where K is 0.8, 1, 1.2, 1.4 and 1.6 when DELTAC is <=1%, 1-2%, 2-3%, 3-4% and >=4% respectively.
