Abstract

PURPOSE: To compensate a relative delay of a chroma signal, to elevate a picture quality, and also to improve a damping characteristic, by providing a delaying circuit for 1H-delaying a luminance signal, on a recording or reproducing signal processing circuit.
CONSTITUTION: A luminance signal and a chroma signal in a recording video output signal from an input terminal 13 are led to an output of an LPF15 and an output of a BPF18, respectively. The luminance signal from this LPF15 is 1H-delayed by a 1H delaying circuit 15, is FM-modulated by an FM modulator 16, and is applied to a recording amplifier 17. Also, the chroma signal is converted to a low-band converting chroma signal by a down-converter 19, is applied to the amplifier 17, and an output of the amplifier 17 is provided to a recording head 20. This delaying circuit 15 is constituted of an up-converter 27, a glass 1H delay line 28 whose band center frequency is about 12MHz, and a down-converter 29, so that the luminance signal and the band of the FM signal after the luminance signal has been modulated can be nearly secured. In this way, not only the picture quality is elevated but also the timing chracteristic is improved by a simple circuit.
