Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable gap corrosiveness of an environmental condition to be observed on the spot with an environmental gap corrosiveness serving as a monitor, by a method wherein a gap electrode, having an acute angle notch part in a part of a portion contacting liquid, electrode havining no notch part, and an electrode retainer are set. CONSTITUTION:In a columnaer gap electrode 1 consisting of carbon steel electrode, wherein a gap is formed, a teflon sheet for forming a gap is positioned between the nip formed by insulating sleeve 4 to secure by means of a screw 7 to form a gap. Metal electrodes 2 and 3 are firmly secured to the sleeve 4 by means of a metal electrode having no gap, and either of the metal electrodes 2 and 3 is used as a comparison electrode. An electrode retainer 5, watertightly secured to a tank and a line by means of a PT screw, works to expose the electrodes 1, 2, and 3 to corrosive liquid. Spaces between the electrodes 1, and 2, 2 and 3, 3 and 1, and the electrodes 1, 2, or 3 and the electrode retainer are insulated, the electrodes 1, 2, and 3 are connected to a measuring device through their respective connectors with a cable.
