Abstract
PURPOSE:To cut out characters efficiently and accurately, by matching character pitch for separated and nonseparated characters, etc. accurately, through a series of processing for character cutout while changing parameters through repetition. CONSTITUTION:A data binarized according to the density of an input signal is outputted at a binary encoding circuit 1 and picture data of a part of a character train is picked up at a character train region pickup circuit 2. The picture data picked up at this circuit 2 is stored in a character train picture data storage device 3, the stored picture data is cut out at a character cutout circuit 4 consisting of a pluarlity of circuits and the characters to be cut out are stored in a result of cutout storage device 5. A plurality of characters are cut out by using a pitch estimated from the shape of character train at a plurality of the circuits provided at the circuit 4, error correction is made to the cutout part and a series of processings are repetitively executed through the change in the parameter by using the average pitch of the cutout characters already, and the character pitch such as separation and nonseparation characters are accurately matched to cut out characters efficiently.
