Abstract

PURPOSE:To calibrate light transmittances accurately in clean air as well by using a calibration tube provided in a flue. CONSTITUTION:Shutters 11, 11' are closed to prevent the blowing out of the high temp. gases contg. soot and dust in a flue 1, after which bellows mounting bands 19, 19' are removed and bellows 12, 12' are removed. Handles for vertical movement of adjusting tables 16, 16' are turned to move a light projector 20 and a photodetector 14 to the position of a calibration tube 10. The bellows 12, 12' are connected to the tube 10. The clean air past an air filter unit 17 is blown into the tube 10 by a blower and a hood for air purging, so that the inside of the calibration tube is filled with the clean air. In this state, the medium to be measured is only the clean air, and all the other conditions are the same as those in the measurement of soot and dust in the measuring tube. In this state, the light transmittance is calibrated to 100%.
