Abstract

PURPOSE:To hold always the exposure uniform to stabilize the quality of copies, by constituting a device with a photodetector which detects the exposure of a photoreceptor to generate a light quantity singal, a signal source which generates a reference signal, and a controller which controls the light emission quantity of a light source so that the actual exposure and the reference exposure coincide with each other. CONSTITUTION:A photodetector 24 is provided near a slit 20a in the side of a reflective mirror 18 of a split plate 20 for the purpose of detecting the exposure to a photoreceptor from a light source 10 near the photoreceptor 22. This photodetector 24 generates the exposure to the photoreceptor as a light quantity signal, and this signal is sent to a controller 28 through an amplifier 26. This controller 28 receives a reference signal indicating a reference exposure, where an optimum copy is possible, from a reference signal source 30 also and controls a light source controlling circuit 32, which controls the light emission quantity of the light source 10, so that the actual exposure and the reference exposure coincide with each other. Thus, the light emission quantity of the light source is adjusted to hold always the exposure uniform, and the quality of copies is stabilized.
