Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an optical shutter element which has high weather resistance and high shock resistance and is free from vibrating sounds, by coating an electric shutter consisting of a flat plate having an electrooptic effect, cross finger type electrodes, polarizing films, etc. with light transmissible silicone rubber. CONSTITUTION:An electric shutter consists of a flat plate 1 having an electrooptical effect, feed terminals 3 and 4 plus 3' and 4' having lead wires 7 and 8 provided on both surfaces of the plate 1, cross finger type electrodes 2 and 2', polarizing films 5 and 6 which are orthogonal to the electrodes 2 and 2' with a >=45 deg. angle, and others. This electric shutter is covered with the light transmissible silicone rubber 9 to be turned into an optical shutter element. Such optical shutter element has high weather resistance and high shock resistance and is free from vibrating sounds since vibration is absorbed by the piezoelectric effect of the plate 1.
