Abstract
PURPOSE:To bring a cylindrical or semicylindrical member into contact with a housing uniform and to prevent slipping-out, cracks, etc. of a bearing, by arranging this member in a forming die and pressing the inside circumferential face in the diameter direction to fit it to the forming die. CONSTITUTION:A rectangular plate-shaped work is bent to form a cylindrical or semicylindrical sliding bearing 17. An adjusting screw 15 is loosened to open a forming die 12 with plural segments, and the bearing 17 is arranged in a bore 16, and the adjusting screw 15 is tightened to close the forming die 12. The forming die 12 is fixed to a base 11, and a pressing member 18 is inserted into the bore 16 of the forming die 12 and is guided with a hole 19a of a guide member 19. A press metallic jig 20 is inserted into the hole 19a, and a flange part 20a is allowed to fall by a pressing mechanism until the flange part 20a is brought into contact with the upper face of the guide member 19. Then, the pressing member 18 has the diameter expanded by the compression force in the axial direction to press the bearing toward the outside circumference, and the bearing 17 is deformed along an arc-shaped groove 16a, thus forming the drum- shaped sliding bearing 17. When the bearing 17 is press-fitted into a housing, the outside circumferential face of the sliding bearing 17 is deformed along the inside circumferential face of the housing and is brought into contact with the housing uniformly.
